 SUBSTITUTE INTERPRETER FOR DEAF/HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS

 

Reports to: Special Services Director, Building Principal or designee

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

POSITION SUMMARY

The educational interpreter’s primary function is to facilitate communication among students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school system. The educational interpreter provides interpreting and support services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing being educated in the school district. Other duties that may be performed when they do not interfere with interpreting include tutoring, participation in meetings and being an active member

of the school’s educational team.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EVALUATION

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.

 

SALARY SCHEDULE

This position will be paid according to the approved Temporary & Subs Salary Schedule.  

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Assigned by the supervisor.

Employment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.
