School Psychologist

 

Qualifications: Appropriate PTSB Certification and/or endorsement as a School  Psychologist.

 

Reports To: Director of Special Services

 

Job Goal: To provide quality psychology services for the District.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1.  Evaluates and diagnoses specified deficits of students that would meet criteria set forth by Wyoming special education rules for services to students with an emotional disability, an autistic disability and any other health impaired disability.
  2. Evaluates and diagnoses and/or collaborates with other school personnel in the diagnosis of students suspected of having all other listed disabilities as defined by the Wyoming special education rules.
  3. Interprets data collected from evaluations of referred students and shares that information in a report format as that parents, staff, and others are able to understand the functioning level of a specific students.  Also from this data makes and shares appropriate conclusions and recommendations for development of an Individualized education Plan (IEP) for the specific student as needed for programming.
  4. Recognizes conditions, which may lead to student learning/behavior problems and provides leadership with staff members in developing appropriate strategies for intervention.
  5. Collaborates and provides leadership with staff in development of programming, methodology, and strategies to meet the educational needs of special education students with behavioral and emotional difficulties.
  6. Provides appropriate individual counseling to special education students and facilitates group counseling.  Demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of counseling interventions.  Is able to develop a positive rapport with students.
  7. Provides crisis counseling.
  8. Develops and maintains a cooperative relationship with community child-services agencies and professionals.
  9. Maintains ethical and confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  10.  Provides leadership with staff members in maintaining the necessary confidentiality of information as it relates to students and staff that they work with on a daily basis.
  11. Performs such other duties assigned by the Director of Special Services.


Terms of Employment: Designated by contracts

Evaluation: The Director of Special Services shall evaluate this position.
